Two Earthquakes, Two Outcomes

An earthquake of 7.3 magnitude struck Haiti, which is one of the official diplomatic relation with Republic of China (Taiwan), in Januaury.
The earthquake was 7.3 magnitude, whose strength is far away from 8.8 magnitude which occurred in Chile this month. Nevertheless, the casualties were 4000 times more than that in Chile. According to the reliable statistics, the casualties in Haiti were 200,000, while approximately 500 in Chile. What is the main reason that caused the wide gap?
I do not think it was because of Hatians's exchange with the demons.
Chile is a country whose prosperity depends on the exportation of copper. The more copper Chile exports, the more money people can earn, and the exportation has been stable for many years. Accordingly, Chile becomes one of the richest country in Latin America.
Please remember a rule: Politics is always related to economic develpoment. If corruptions happen usually in a country, the country's economy must be very weak.
Haiti is an obvious example. The problems in Haiti are very serious. This causes the inadequate infrastractures. Therefore, once earthquakes strike the country, Haitians are not able to resist.
However, on the other hand, thanks to the stable exportation of copper, the Chileien economy grows stably. Additionally, politics in Chile is also better than that in Haiti; the infrastractures are also enough for people, despite the fact that most of them have been destroyed in the catastropic disaster.
I believe that Chile can recover from the pain soon with the assistence of their healthy economy, good goverance, and international society. The Secretary of State Department of the United States of America, Hillary Clinton, has promised to offer all the necessary help to Chile as long as Chile asks.
Let's pray for Chile. May the casualties rest in peace and survivors recover.
Note: Please go to
to see the speech of Hillary Clinton's in the airport of Chile. (The woman beside Clinton is the President of Chile.)
